Colton's Salsa

Colton (and all) made salsa that was too hot for Colton! That is a first, because Colton Looooves hot stuff:) We finished cleaning lockers today, made salsa and nachos, and completed the Big Bend Country unit. We will finish the Hill Country this week as well.

The Basketball Clinic is in the gym this week due to A/C problems at the Sr. High, so we slowed down our physical activity, somewhat.

Thanks to all of you who have sent snacks! If you get an opportunity to send a flat of flowers for a Texas Region, I would appreciate it. The Rio Grande is hanging in there, but could use some company!

Did I mention that Coach Coward brought back the birdhouse gourds with holes for the birds? Do we have any artists in our group? They are really cool, and we can hang them out in the courtyard. In your summer cleaning and rearranging, if you would like to find another home for a bench, plant hanger, trellis, etc., we can put it to use. Our gourds are beginning to climb. Yippee!

IHOP is Thursday. Please look at the menu online and send money for the purchase.

WEDNESDAY is dancing with the STARS--speaking of US!!!!

Garden Update

Here is our Texas, regional, flowerbed! The Rio Grande Country is in place. We will put the regions in as we study them. This week is the Texas Hill Country.

Cantaloupes, maybe?
Check out the tomatoes that are left. We may actually have Colton's salsa before summer school is out!

Dancing with the stars, Day 1!
Tomorrow, we will go shopping at Tom Thumb. Don't forget your snacks. We will eat them at the park. :)

Well...you must know that Coach Coward is a "Friend for Life!" Not only did he and the student trainers help us to get our garden up and going, they went with us to Special Olympics and spend lots of time with us "hanging out." Coach Coward came by to pick up the birdhouse gourds I grew last year and is taking them to Grandberry where his dad will drill the holes for us to make some birdhouses! Now, is that fun, or what? :)

Thank you to Coach Coward!

Anybody have a grill that can be transported here for the last day of summer school for our big cook out and field day? Do we have any expert "cookers?" Just thought I would ask in advance. :)

ESY Day 1

Super day--just way too fast! I found out that I could not accomplish all the things I planned for the first day in 1/2 day. We missed Rebecca--but, I bet she is not thinking about us right now--just having fun at her grandmother's.

We started on the Big Bend Country, math and a little reading--Katie is faithfully leading us in our exercise and motor time in the mornings. We made banana smoothies and nachos--cause, you know, Texans love nachos!

We are keeping daily logs, but some of the kids said they didn't want to take notebooks home. If you want them sent home, daily, please let me know.

Don't forget to send snacks and dancing money.

Thx

Today, we also had music therapy and speech therapy.

We had lots of recycling waiting for us, and are helping clean the lockers.

Tomorrow we will begin training for the CHS summer olympic grande finale in August! It will be fun--I hope. :)
